“What breakdown of “law and order”? When people are starving and the government cannot do anything, it’s their right to take over supermarkets and malls to distirbute food and feed themselves. They should really do it in an organized manner that can provide equitable distribution to all the needy.”
—Sonny Melencio, Chairperson of the Partido Lakas ng Masa—
“Whose law and whose order are we supposed to protect? This is not looting. These are the people trying to protect themselves from an uncaring and murderous system — a system that kills. We should call for the people to take over supermarkets, rice depots and so on, and take control of food and relief distribution themselves. Not looting. It’s wealth distribution.”
—Reihana Mohideen, Chairperson of Transform Asia—
“Thou shalt not steal.”
—Exodus 20:15—
“And behold one came and said to him: Good master, what good shall I do that I may have life everlasting? Who said to him: Why asketh thou me concerning good? One is good, God. But if thou wilt enter into life, keep the commandments. He said to him: Which? And Jesus said: thou shalt do no murder, thou shalt not commit adultery, thou shalt not steal, thou shalt not bear false witness.”
—Matthew 19:16-18—

what right are you talking about when these people try to take advantage of what happened to them in a wrong way? This isn’t something that should be taken of for granted! this isn’t right and yo know that. Survival isn’t about stealing and taking advantage of other people’s weaknesses; it is about teamwork amid chaos, working hand in hand through every obstacle and putting everything to God’s hands. how can a country survive if it all depends on other people? how can a small community survive by doing all these? 😦

Is that question for me? Because if it is, you will have to reread the whole blogpost all over again. I never said anything at all. I merely quoted a news article, comments from Failón and socialist activists, and some Bible verses.
My golly.

It is very unfortunate that this is happening. It would seem understandable, at the very least, if people are looting for food, water or clothes. These are basic necessities to survive. But for people to ransack malls and take appliances and other items does not make sense.
In the end, their actions may boomerang at them. Malls and supermarket, which will eventually provide them with goods and even jobs they need may eventually close shop.
